I couldn't believe it when I saw this gorgeous painting of the town I used to live in and LOVED passionately. My parents came to the U.S.A. when I was only 10 years old and I cried when I had to leave and was homesick for the place for years. Now that I live in the Sierra Nevadas in Northern California I no longer grieve for the place, but it took years and years (almost 40 years) for the homesickness to diminish. I've never been back, but would still like to see how it's changed. From your paintings, it hasn't changed so much at all. Thank you for this. It's been a treat to look at Weil der Stadt once more.
I'm honored to know that this painting brings you happy memories. Thanks for telling me. Here's a slideshow I found of photos of Weil der Stadt from the 1930s. It's amazing how many buildings are still there. http://coincident.fallingrain.com/?v=HSAk8A_-IeA,58Ngo2GtS9I,4gK6FK9oaIw,--iL6L_a84A You can see more of my paintings (some of which are of Weil der Stadt) atwww.stevengivler.comThanks for writing.
I lived here from may 1987 till nov 30 1991. I miss it. Brings back memories of living there when I see anything about WdSt. I can walk around the town in my mind without being there. Glad you drew the town I grew up in.
Hello Thomas, thank you for visiting my site. I'm glad you enjoyed seeing your old home town. It's a beautiful place, and I never get tired of painting it.
